A Busy Spring!

Okay, OKay, OKAY!!!! I know some of you were wondering what happened and some of you didn't but I have a list of excuses for my lack of posting. I will be happy to forward that list to any who are interested...nobody??? All right then, let's just move forward and pretend that I had a great reason for not posting since April. MY GOD, where does the time slip away? It just seems to speed up faster and faster. Does anyone have a theory or explanation for this? Please help me.

Enough of that, let's move on to our presentation.

The Maxwell's Have a Busy Spring!

As everyone knows, we love the beach. So off we go, but we decided to check out the Atlantic Coast instead of our normal Panhandle/Redneck Riveria trek. We chose Cocoa Beach and headed South. We got a great deal on a neat hotel with huge rooms. They converted old apartments so each room is a two bedroom with a full kitchen. Perfect when you have kids! It had a very nice heated pool in the middle surrounded by a lush tropical jungle and reminded us of the Caribbean resorts we used to visit BK (before kids). Pictures in the jungle will follow, but first, our trip to the Brevard Zoo.

We saw this zoo advertised and thought it might be fun. Our main goal was to feed the giraffes. Mission accomplished. Dagon, who loves all creatures, was not scared one bit and gave her a pat on her nose. I wish I could have gotten a picture of that but it was kinda crowded and almost impossible. Once the herd of people moved on, I was able to get this picture. She was a very sweet giraffe. You don't realize how big they are until you stand next to their head!
They had an incredible aviary where hundreds of different birds just fly around your head. Joe loved that and would have stayed in there for hours! Dagon tried to catch the birds. We rode the train!
A little Joey (Ha!)

We stayed until the zoo closed. We will definately visit there again when we return to the area!
The beach is so different from the panhandle. Much bigger waves and a HUGE beach! We are planning to return for a shuttle launch! The arrow on the left points to the launch pad. You can see it clearly from the beach. Everyone says it is really an experience and we want to see one before they stop doing it. Given the recent problems, I'd say we better hurry before they scrap the whole project and turn it over to the Mexicans for their personal use. (Sorry, I won't get on my soapbox). The arrow on the right is a Carnival Cruise heading out for the week. We were just down from Port Canaveral. Seager enjoyed riding down there and seeing all the big ships. As promised, here are the jungle shots. Disclaimer: There is a picture of Mommy and the boys. I do not like the picture of myself (of course) but there are so few pictures of me and the boys, I'll make an exception, just this once. Do not expect more of this in the future, unless I get picked for Extreme Makeover and can get a complete overhaul.

We had a good trip and plan to visit Cocoa Beach again!
After getting back, the Shriner's Circus was in town! We had a great time. Seager was big enough to ride some rides this year and Daddy bought him the coveted "Ride Forever" bracelet. He flew planes, helicopters, rode Dumbo, drove a race car and Big Rig, rode the Crazy Bus and went on a date with a cute blond driving a pink jeep!
Not to be left out, Dagon's favorite thing was the petting zoo. I swear this child absolutely loves animals and is just not scared of them at all! He got his little cup of food and fed the baby goats one little morsel at a time and was thrilled to do it! Daddy was also successful in dunking the smart ass clown. It took a little time and alot of insults but he got the job done.

The beginning of May was our first trip to the Aquarium. Mamaw, Aunt Lori and Brooklyn all joined us. Seager had already been there with Daddy, but enjoyed it again.
Dagon, of course, loved it.
For those of you who have not visited the Georgia Aquarium, don't get your hopes too high. It was not as spectacular as we expected. We took a brief walk through Centennial Park while we were down there... Seager couldn't hold back and had to check out the fountain!
For Mother's Day, I received hand made cards from the boys and framed handprints (with help from Mamaw). Joe got me several goodies. It was a good day!
Memorial Day provided us with an adventure. We traveled to South Carolina for a Hot Air Balloon Festival. There were balloons and it was HOT! We also had a rare visit with Aunt Dianne, Joe's aunt who lives in NC. She was only able to spend a few hours with us, but she got to meet the boys and catch up with Joe. We really loved seeing her. I completely dropped the ball and did not get pictures of her with us before she left. I am still beating myself up about that. I can't believe I actually forgot to do that. Sorry again, Dianne, we'll have to get together again soon!

Mamaw, Aunt Lori and Brooklyn joined us for this expedition also. All of the shots from the festival are compliments of Lori. She did all the picture taking.

Dagon loves fireworks! Seager does not, he just covers his ears. He took that opportunity to take a pit stop and missed the whole thing. He didn't care.

Uncle John and Brandon came for a Braves Game and visit. It was Chicago so Seager dressed for the occasion. He was so proud of his face painting that he wouldn't let me wash it off for two days! They had the good seats again but no fly balls or TV time for this game.
Next adventure...Mommy and boys tour the fire station! We joined a local homeschool group who organized the tour. We learned all about fire safety and got to see a firefighter put on all his gear. They even got a call in the middle on the tour and several firefighters jumped on a truck and sped away with sirens and lights blaring! How exciting!
Well, that's how we spent our Spring! Summer has begun and we've closed the first half of 2007. We don't have any big plans for Summer. Since this is Joe's busy season, we kinda just roll with the punches, take lots of trips to Mamaw's house, and try to stay cool. That's not to say that something really exiciting could happen. Who knows.

I personally love the picture of you with your boys Angela and as moms we do get left out of the pics. I think you look great! I hope your summer is as fun as spring was!
