Goodbye - Firsts - Newbies

Just after my last post we got the sad news that my Aunt Judy was no longer with us. She apparently thought that she could finally get some relief from years of physical and mental pain. I hope she found that peace on the other side. I'm sure she is hanging out with all our family that has already crossed over and "catching up" on all the gossip.

Enjoy your peace Judy, where ever you are and please say hello to Grandma!

Sadness quickly turned to panic upon the realization that Christmas was 2 weeks away and the shopping was not done, not even close. And worse yet, Santa had not been visited. Lucky for me, Mamaw was in the same boat so she came down for a week of intense shopping and Santa spotting.

So off to the mall we go, once the "Jolly One" was spotted Seager decided he had no interest in speaking to the man. Okay, not a surprise. Dagon, on the other hand, needed his first shot at "The Lap". Mommy and Dagon stood in line (only about 30 minutes, not too bad) while Mamaw and Seager went on mall adventures (involves ice cream!) Just as we were close to our turn, they return and Seager has changed his mind. So Mamaw scooted him up the line to meet us up front. Of course, there were actually a couple of parents that complained that she was breaking in line. Well kiss my jingle bells and shut the $#@* up, I stood in line for the appropriate amount of time. Anyway, Mamaw plopped Seager on "the Lap" and I placed Dagon and we hoped for the best. I only wish the incompetant elf photographer would have told us to replace Dagon sitting up better, but I guess he/she (don't remember) just didn't care. So we got a shot, no one is crying or trying to escape, so I guess it was a success. Seager, still a little unsure, didn't get to converse with Santa at all. I hate being rushed through like cattle. I also hate the mall.

Fast forward several days, and we are back at the mall; I hate the mall. Santa is spotted again! This time Seager announces that he MUST sit in his lap and talk to him. Believe it or not, there was NO LINE! The stars are aligned and all with life is perfect! So we walk right up there and Seager and Santa get to have a long conversation about trucks, tractors and Bob the Builder. This Santa was incredibly nice and patient. Seager finished his interview and hopped down. Dagon was next. Now this is one of those times where you wish you had the camcorder (I forgot my phone does the same thing, duh!) Dagon was very intrigued with Santa's beard and spent some quality time pulling it and poking his nose and trying to remove his glasses. It was a very sweet moment and I quickly asked the photographer elf to get a picture. Dagon's 1st Santa Visit is recorded for history. Even though it was the perfect Santa visit...I still hate the mall.

Even though it's just hot (70 degrees +) I dress Dagon up in the elf suit and proceed to make some 1st Christmas shots... He loves to pull the lights and ornaments off the tree. And he's almost walking. He will take several steps smiling with each one!

Finally got the shopping done, actually I just stopped, same thing I guess. If you didn't receive a gift from us...better luck next year. Hopefully I will be better prepared and won't have to run around at the last minute, and hopefully no one will be dead. And hopefully I won't have to go to the mall (I hate the mall).

Anyway, off to Mamaw and Papoo's house for the Christmas festivities. Santa visited us there and left lots of good stuff. Same as last year, I took mostly video, but did get some shots.

Dagon made a cute Rudolf! Seager transformed into Superman at some point

Dagon is determined to get a taste of Seager's Play Dough...

And shows Superman that walking is no big deal..."I can even do it with my eyes closed!"

After a full day and full tummys we headed home to see what was in the mystery packages that Daddy left under the tree...yep...Bongo Drums! No instructions needed here, the bongo banging began immediately!

Daddy even joined the fun, much to Dagon's delight!

What's that Seager, your very own real guitar!

Daddy demonstrates...

Now I know you are all thinking, "Oh my God, Mommy is going to lose her mind and her hearing!" But you see it's all part of the big plan...are you ready...a boy band! Duo to be technical! Why wait until they are adults and hope for the big payback with sports or brilliance? They are cute and love music, so the way we see it, they could be in every "tweenie" magazine before they turn 13! All suggestions for the name of our duo should be submitted to my email. You will get credit on our first Entertainment Tonight interview.

It's a good plan. I won't be a crazy parent like that Simpson man or Lohan woman.

After a couple days of rest, we headed off to Grandmommy's house (en route to the beach for New Year's) Grandmommy warned me about posting pictures of her after working in the yard or after just getting up, so this is all you get!

Next stop...the beach, for a few days of rest and relaxation. As the previous two years, we had beautiful weather...70 degrees + for the first two days and rain on New Year's Eve, but who cares, good nap weather!

Joe and Seager enjoy a peaceful moment!

Dagon practices posing for all those photo shoots and works on his sea legs! His 1st walk on the beach!

And in general, just looks cute no matter what.

Out of all my beachy shots of the boys, I think this one is my most favorite!

While at the beach we get the good news...

Joe's step-brother and wife are now the proud parents of a baby girl, born on December 30th!

Harper Elizabeth Mooney

Congratulations Jon and Claire

and welcome to the world, Harper!

Mom and Dad must still be adjusting to the new arrival and have not forwarded any pictures yet. We are waiting to see her and will post when she debuts. Maybe they are waiting for People Magazine to call before they release any pictures!

After that, 2006 slid away into the ocean and 2007 arrived as we watched some cheesy, redneck fireworks on the beach. What more could you ask for?

Happy New Year!

We hope this year brings everyone health, happiness, and lots of money (can't hurt to ask).

As far as the happiness goes, we didn't have to wait long for good news...

The Best Person is now a Best Mommy!

Connie, Joe's Best Person at our wedding and her husband Dave welcomed their daughter on January 5th.

MacKinsey Presley Moreshead

Congratulations Connie and Dave!

Can somebody please tell me how she can look that good after giving birth? I looked like a truck hit me, backed up, and ran over me again; both times! I hate her (not really).

So there you have it. Goodbye Judy, 2006 and Saddam (good riddance)! Dagon is walking and visited Santa for the first time, and Seager conquered his Santa fear for the 1st time! Hello, Harper, 2007 and MacKinsey! Who knows what this year will bring, but you can bet it will be fun around here! By the way, I hate the mall.

Angela, I always look forward to the latest escapades of the Maxwells. I agree with your choice of favorite pics...Dagon looks like he could be ready to either run like hell or go out and catch a wave! Thanks for sending me the pics of the boys. I'm going to try to email some photos of "our boys."
Hope to see you soon.
