There are always events in your life that leave a special imprint in your mental filing cabinet. In my experience there are two types of these events...the first is something that happens to you personally and alters your life in some way. The other is an event that you witness or hear of that is surprising, shocking or unbelievable. Even though it doesn't really affect you directly, you can remember the exact place you were and what you were doing when you heard "the news".
My earliest personal memory?... peeking out the window as my parents drove into the driveway with my new baby sister in the car. At three years old and the first child and first grandchild, I can see how I would instinctively know that my prestigious life was over about to change. (XXXOOO Katrina).
My earliest newsworthy memory?... watching Neil Armstrong take the first steps on the moon on our big console TV.
Do you remember where you were when you heard or witnessed...
Elvis was dead?
Diana and Charles were married?
President Reagan was shot?
The Challenger blew up?
Atlanta would host the 1996 Olympic Games?
The OJ Verdict?
The bombing of Centennial Olympic Park? (this one was almost personal...I was there that night but left two hours before the bomb went off)
That Princess Diana was dead?
The horrible accident that took Steve Irwin from us?
And my newest and most exciting addition:
The announcement of Sarah Palin for Vice President?
Of course there is one event that no one should forget. The media doesn't feel comfortable showing video of that day. They think it's too insensitive to the victims and their families. They seem to want us to forget. Until all Radical Islamic Terrorists are enjoying their celestial virgins, I will do my best to remind everyone what happened and what we are up against. This was not a one time event. These people want us dead! They despise our freedom and liberty and will stop at nothing to try to extinguish us and our way of life. The RNC played a video at their convention that got very little airtime on any network or cable channel. Here is that video and it includes the apology from ultra liberal and ultra asshole Keith Olbermann of NBC which resulted in his demotion. HA! Please watch it and don't ever forget that we are at WAR against these freaks. If it gives you pain to watch it...GOOD...maybe you won't forget who we are fighting and what we are fighting for. NEVER FORGET!
On a lighter note...there is another September date that several of you should remember. Do you remember where you were when you...
got lei'd along with 100 other people?
dressed in a grass skirt and lit tiki torches?
walked around thinking you were the best person there...and you were?
read a poem that you wrote?
arrived with major jet lag and beautiful Hawaiian leis?
did a little line dancing?
enjoyed a beautiful fireworks display?
made a toast?
danced with a wild pizza guy named Calvin and your late husband's ex-wife's husband with a cake knife in his pocket?
helped style a last minute up-do?
watched an explosive kiss?
waved a sparkler?
missed half the party but didn't miss the football game?
did a little late night karaoke?
remembered arriving but leaving is a little fuzzy?
drove your rental car into a ditch?
here is a hint..
I can't believe it's been eight years either. And if you were not there...we're sorry you missed it. It was a special day for us and we were so excited to share it with you all. Maybe in a couple of years we can have a 10 year repeat party including all our new friends we have added since 2000. Don't forget to vote in the poll...it's over there >>>
Now, back to my newest favorite newsworthy event...Sarah! I have had a million thoughts over the past couple of weeks. So many I wanted to share but just never sat down to put my thoughts in writing. I'll just leave it at this, when you sift through all the crap flying around you have to be inspired by a person who can inspire so many ...and then there is Sarah. I believe that this woman has a destiny to fulfill; a born leader that hasn't been created and molded and groomed for greatness but is great all the same. She seems like a person who can promote change. She may not be allowed to make many changes in the Washington Machine but what she can do is change the way people look at politicians and their excitement for just the possibilities. We can finally see a real person with a real life that wants to serve her family and all our families with decent representation. I look forward to a new memory... announcing President Sarah Palin and the First Dude of course! What!? It could happen...ask Margaret Thatcher.
In the spirit of the Laws of Attraction (if you don't know about that you should really look into it) I have removed my Nobama banner and have replaced it with a much more positive wish. Please remember...No matter on which side of the fence you graze, do your duty and vote. No excuses. Men and women have fought and died so YOU can make your wishes heard. You don't have a right to vote but you do have an obligation. JUST DO IT!
p.s. the boys are great. you'll get your fill of pictures coming soon....it's almost Halloween time...their most favorite holiday! any ideas for costumes this year?
